Technical Requirements

Technical setup

To ensure an optimal learning experience at The Global British School (TGBS), students are required to have the following technical setup:

Stable and Sufficient Internet Connection

Requirement: A broadband connection with a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps is essential for uninterrupted online classes.

Computer Specifications

  • Device

A PC or laptop is recommended.

  • Webcam and Audio

Built-in or external, for video calls and interactive sessions.

  • Screen Size

Minimum of 15″ for laptops or 19.5″ for PC monitors to reduce eye strain.

  • Processor (CPU)

Intel Core i5 (or equivalent) or higher.

  • Memory

Minimum 4 GB RAM (8 GB is preferred for smoother performance).

  • Operating System

    Microsoft Windows 10 or later.

  • Supported Browsers

For Windows: IE 11+, Edge 12+, Firefox 27+, Chrome 30+

For Mac: Safari 7+, Firefox 27+, Chrome 30+

Peripheral Equipment

  • Keyboard

A full QWERTY keyboard is required for efficient typing and extended writing tasks.

  • Headphone with Microphone

A noise-cancelling headset ensures clear audio, maintains privacy, and minimizes distractions during lessons.

Study Environment

Dedicated Space: Ensure your child has sufficient desk space in a quiet area, free from distractions, to maximize their focus and benefit from online education.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Apple Mac Users: Please install 'Office for Mac' to ensure full compatibility with learning resources.
Unsuitable Devices: Mobile phones and tablets are not recommended as primary devices due to small screen sizes, limited functionality, and the lack of a full keyboard.
Compatibility across all devices is essential. Parents are encouraged to take special care in ensuring that what they purchase will work across all of these pieces of equipment and with the requirements noted above by the TGBS Technical Team.
Device Sharing: Each child requires their own equipment; sharing devices is not feasible for simultaneous learning sessions.
Online education provision is naturally only successful when there is a sufficient and stable internet connection on each child’s device.

Ensuring that each student meets these technical requirements is vital for a successful and engaging online learning experience at TGBS.
