Student Progress Reporting at Global British School

Reporting

We emphasize transparent and ongoing communication regarding student progress. Our structured reporting process culminates in an end-of-year evaluation, focusing on three pivotal areas:

Types of Reports

At our school, we are committed to providing consistent and meaningful feedback to support each student's growth and success. Our reporting system includes multiple touchpoints throughout the academic year to ensure that students, parents, and teachers have a clear understanding of progress and areas for development.
  • Subject Reports
A Comprehensive Subject Report is issued every 12 weeks (once per term), providing a detailed evaluation of the student’s academic performance across subjects.
  • Ongoing Feedback
Weekly formative assessments are conducted to monitor student comprehension and skill development. While these do not carry formal grades, parents receive monthly summaries highlighting their child's progress and areas that may require additional support.
Pastoral feedback may also be shared weekly with parents of students who need additional encouragement or support, based on observations during pastoral care sessions.
  • Attainment

Evaluates the degree to which a student has mastered the curriculum, in alignment with international UK and Cambridge standards.

  • Improvement

Assesses progress by juxtaposing current performance with previous assessments, applicable to students with prior evaluations at GBS.

  • Effort

Appraises a student's dedication and consistency, underscoring their potential for success.

  • Parental Engagement

Parents are encouraged to engage with their child's Mentor through a secure communication channel available in the Parent Portal, accessible post the initial fee installment. This platform facilitates discussions and addresses any queries concerning the student's progress.
  • Maintaining Assessment Integrity

We uphold a foundation of trust between home and school to ensure assessments authentically represent the student's independent efforts. Our technological measures and established protocols safeguard the integrity of online assessments, and we solicit parental support in upholding these standards. Oral assessments further enable students to articulate their reasoning, offering deeper insights into their understanding.
  • IGCSE and A-Level Examinations

It is important to note that final IGCSE and A-Level examinations are administered under Cambridge International's formal conditions at accredited examination centers, such as British Council venues, and are not conducted online.
